 The diversity of Nancy Battel’s educational and experiential background enables her and her associates to address a wide variety of legal and business needs. Before forming her own practice in 2003, Nancy was an associate and then partner in one of San Jose’s prominent civil litigation firms where she received extensive civil litigation experience and developed the firm’s business practice unit. With over thirty years experience, Nancy and her staff continue to serve the needs of individuals and companies not only within the Bay Area, but also attend to client’s out of state and world-wide interests.

Nancy M. Battel

 Nancy M. Battel received her B.A. from Northwestern University, a Masters Degree and Teaching Credential from San Francisco State University, as well as her J.D. and M.B.A. from Santa Clara University where she has served on the Board of Directors for the Law School’s Alumni Association. She has been a civil litigator since 1985 and has served as a Judicial Arbitrator, Discovery Commissioner Pro-Tem and Settlement Judge Pro-Tem for the Santa Clara County Superior Courts. She has been active in the Santa Clara County Bar Association, serving on the Board of Trustees and as past President of the Woman Lawyer's Committee. Nancy has a diverse transactional and litigation practice, with an emphasis on business and real estate issues. She has extensive civil litigation experience, with her practice encompassing appearances in civil, criminal, probate and family law proceedings in State and Federal Courts, including the representation of secured Creditors in Bankruptcy proceedings. She has experience with financial fraud and predatory lending practices, especially involving Elders and has lectured frequently on Financial Elder Abuse and predatory lending practices. She was appointed Special Deputy District Attorney for San Benito County to handle the civil and criminal prosecution of a law firm for Unfair Business Practices and the Civil Rights Violations of others. Before establishing her own practice in 2003, Nancy was a partner in a prominent litigation defense firm in San Jose where she chaired the firm’s Business Practices Department. As an associate and partner, Nancy handled a variety of litigated matters, including the defense of toxic tort (dry cleaners, underground storage tank, mold) and American with Disability Act (ADA) claims. She has also provided coverage analysis and opinion letters when requested to do so by insurance carriers.
